Twice in one month?

Yes, I'm updating again, for the second time this month!

I'm in the middle of finals, and of course that inevitably leads me to do ANYTHING but study! :)

Lets see, I had a good topic. Oh that's right, I wanted to talk about extremes and people who are 'too' extreme.

First of all its very hard to define extreme. What seems extreme to some people seems perfectly legitimate to others (eg. skydiving!). But I recently had to read a bunch of essays for my Sex and Religion class dealing with the way sex is dealt with in each religion. The majority of these essays were from a feminist perspective, and that is what I wanted to talk about.

I don't really have anything against feminists, but I don't personally consider myself one, since most are too extreme (in my opinion). A lot of the articles I read talked about a male dominated society in which women have little/no say, be it about contraception, abortion, marriage, etc. These statements were even more persuasive when relating certain Islamic societies like those of Saudi Arabia. They basically went on to say that women need not only look after children (which men pressure them to do) but have their own dreams and goals. I totally agree with this, but I would also like to have children and a husband! They made it seem like these were no longer legitimate goals for a woman to have.

It seems like they are trying to over-compensate and revert the world to being a women-dominated world as opposed to male-dominated. This may sound naive, but can't we just have a co-existing world? :P

Maybe they (feminists) just need to get their point across and basically try too hard to do it (in my opinion). Or maybe I am just lucky that I didn't grow up in a community where women are looked as non-human beings to be ruled over. I mean in Canada women's rights are almost equal to mens and I have to say that I'm happy about that!
...Or maybe it is because the majority of the articles were written by lesbian feminists and they are even more adamant about a woman oriented society than non-lesbians?

I don't know, what do you guys think? Too extreme? Or is that what needs to happen in order for there to be progressive change?

Either way for some fun now! Here are some pictures of our fun snow day outside with baby and doggie! :D

Ok.. so i'm back to finish off my terrible post! haha

So.. i agree with you, many feminists are too extreme, but on the other hand so many women are still opressed, so i guess it depends on the person and the circumstances.

Now onto a different topic... CHRISTMAS!!! i love it! it's the best time of the year, go have yourself a great xmas! :D

I hope you kick ass on your German Exam btw, cause i'm not going to be here :(, but i'll be crossing my fingers for you all bus ride to Ottawa long :D !!

Yeah, those extreme feminists give the rest of the world a bad name. But it's always like that - you always end up looking extreme when you are trying to make a change and no one is listening. I can somewhat relate. Of course, my battle has to do with parenting, and I can only hope that 30 years from now, when my son is marrying and having children, he won't have to go through the "Oh, breastmilk IS actually better, there are studies to prove it..." bulshit, because people will just KNOW!

Yes, well I do indeed think that feminists are a bit too over the top. I remember thinking that I was one, and Googled them..and then realized that I dont really care that much.
Blah blah..yes I do want equal rights..but whatever you know, I think that the only equality im concerned about is that my husband do the chores--pff...we all know i dont do dishes, or laundry or ironing or cleaning. Ill take home the bread :D
Oh wait..im starting to sound like a lesbian...damn it.
Women have come a long way since the olden days, and Im good with that.
I mean, I dont really support the fact that some women are treated as just housewifes and for popping out babies, but I do eventually would have to pop some out and clean here and there lol
Ok..my thoughts are sporatic..im an addict..
God Im rapping now...
I love you
Cant wait to see you, my little prostitute! :)
MUAH!
